Groundskeeper / Maintenance Assistant

Part-time/seasonal (summer months) position responsible for assisting RHG facilities staff in maintaining grounds and exterior of any and all RHG properties.  May also fill-in/assist as maintenance laborer, particularly during seasons with less yard work.

Will work at all RHG locations: Henderson, Norlina, Littleton, Hollister, Roanoke Rapids, Jackson, Rich Square, Scotland Neck, Enfield, and Whitakers.

Primary Duties
  • Responsible for assisting RHG facilities staff in maintaining grounds and exterior of any and all RHG properties.  This includes but is not limited to: lawn maintenance, trimming of hedges and other vegetation, flower beds and mulch
  • Responsible for keeping parking lots clean and power washed
  • Responsible for leaf raking and disposal
  • Responsible for snow and ice removal in inclement weather
  • Must maintain company vehicle and all lawn equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager - may include but not limited to, routine plumbing, replacing light bulbs, routine carpentry, electrical and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, move and assemble furniture and other materials, assist with small remodeling projects, etc.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • At least two years of grounds keeping, landscaping and lawn care experience setting strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of common hand tools and simple mechanical repair and maintenance required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of commonly used housekeeping tools and chemicals
  • Must have good communication skills including the ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding when carrying out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Pleasant, professional approach toward all staff, providers, patients, co-workers and superiors; excellent teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize daily work
  • Basic computer skills for use with email, preventive maintenance program, etc.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in extreme temperatures as required.  Ability to perform lifting, climbing, and working with hazardous materials with proper safety protection in the course of normal job requirements.
