Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager

Rural Health Group, Inc. is seeking a full-time Assistant Facilities/Maintenance Manager.  This position functions as a working manager, overseeing all grounds-keeping and housekeeping staff. This position will serve as the backup supervisor/manager of the maintenance staff and the exterior and interior maintenance of all company buildings and grounds.  Facilities are currently located in Stovall, Henderson, Norlina, Hollister, Littleton, Gaston, Roanoke Rapids, Jackson, Rich Square, Scotland Neck, Enfield, and Whitakers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all bid procurement and oversight of contracted maintenance jobs for RHG
  • Responsible for construction/remodeling projects
  • Responsible for all preventive and routine maintenance and service for all RHG facilities and equipment (excluding clinical equipment)
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the exterior and interior appearance of all RHG properties
  • Responsible for moving furniture and other materials as directed
  • Checks RHG email for maintenance requests daily
  • Responsible for schedules and coverage, attendance/time-keeping, evaluations, and other supervisory duties for maintenance and housekeeping staff
  • Maintains files on bids, equipment manuals, preventive maintenance and service for all RHG equipment, including company vehicles
  • Maintains accurate records of all maintenance purchases and submits these to accounting in a timely manner
  • Reports as requested to RHG Administration
  • Participates in Safety/OSHA/Environment of Care committees; assists with activities such as internal audits, fire/mock-code/disaster drills, etc.
  • Responsible for coordination of snow/ice removal at all facilities during adverse weather
  • Is available for after-hours emergency calls by company phone
  • Assures that security system, keys and locks, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarms, sprinkler system and fire hydrants are in operating condition. Assures that key staff is advised of procedure in the event of an alarm
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to good (3-5 years) construction or facility maintenance trades experience.
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Certifications in electrical and/or HVAC preferred
  • Knowledge of the use and care of commonly used equipment and tools, and basic and semiskilled facility maintenance repair tasks
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, make decisions, organize tasks, and handle multiple priorities in a potentially stressful environment
  • Ability to comprehend written materials and to apply common sense understanding when carrying out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to use computer for work orders, time-keeping and other employee records, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
  • Interpersonal skills that facilitate professional, productive, and respectful interactions with all levels of RHG staff and management, vendors, patients, and the public
  • Ability to maintain composure and respond properly during emergencies
  • Ability to learn and apply written laws, rules, and regulations related to the work, including safety precautions and OSHA requirements
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License by hire date
  • Teamwork skills are a must
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in extreme temperatures as required.  Ability to perform sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, and working with hazardous materials with proper safety protection in the course of normal job requirements.
