The Pharmacy Support Analyst performs specialty functions, including back up as a Pharmacy Technician, in support of the RHG Pharmacy and 340b program. Responsible for ensuring program performance is at peak levels by acting as the day-to-day contact; analyzing and trending data so that recommendations and status can be reported to internal stakeholders and program management. Ensures compliance with state, Pharmacy Affairs Board and the 340B federal regulations by performing audits and instituting compliance metrics. Also reports detailing volume, profitability, pricing, and other reporting metrics as needed. Position will participate in QI activities as needed.

Understands pharmacy purchasing and procurement of drugs and 340B regulatory requirements; auditing operations on a frequency necessary to determine regulatory compliance; and collaborating with pharmacy staff and other departments such as Finance, Billing, Corporate Compliance, and IS/IT to ensure effectiveness of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This person is responsible for the management and coordination of the pharmacy 340(b) program. Such management and coordination includes assuring qualifications for the program are met and maintained; the program is fully implemented in all areas of qualified use; related records are complete and accurate; and that it meets all primary objectives as defined by leadership. Four primary objectives or goals include:

1. Compliance - Assuring all use of 340(b) throughout Integrated Health Services is fully compliant with all federal regulations and related interpretations for the program. Work with the pharmacist, RHG providers and our primary vendor, to ensure compliance.
2. Maximum Participation - Assuring Integrated Health Services is achieving maximum utilization of 340(b) drugs and pricing through full participation in all qualified areas with all applicable products, including inpatient and referral contracts, to ensure greatest cost savings returns throughout the provider service system.
3. Efficiency of 340(b) Processes - Assuring that all policies, procedures, and related approaches to 340(b) include the most efficient use of time, resources, and other costs of managing, monitoring, and fully participating in the program.
4. Development and Maintenance of Policies & Procedures- Must ensure that policies & procedures are developed and maintained that address compliance, storage and safety of drugs, Sliding Fee Scale application, patient assistance, delivery service and pharmacy and patient services coordination.

The Pharmacy Support Analyst will monitor the use of split billing software for accuracy of the data and purchases of medication consistent with program requirements. He/She will work with the pharmacists to ensure proper procurement of medications and utilization of medications, supplies and other 340b associated assets.

Assist with the system, 340B initiatives, and staff and provider meetings.

Act as backup for Pharmacy Technician.

Participate in Quality Improvement and Clinical care programs and activities.

Qualifications

  • Qualified individual must have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or pharmacy.
  • Basic knowledge of the 340B pharmacy program preferred.
  • A general understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Performed patient billing audits.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Good communication, analytical and technical skills.
