Rural Health Group is seeking an NC Licensed Psychologist (or license eligible), for a full-time clinical position in a fully integrated federally qualified health center (FQHC) in northeastern NC.

We are seeking a specialist or doctoral level school psychologist for a full-time, year-round position on an integrated care team at our school-based health center clinics.
 
This is a unique opportunity to be on the forefront of a developing school psychology provision model, for which part of the time will be dedicated to project and program development.  In this position, practitioners will provide some traditional school psychology services (e.g., psychoeducational evaluations, functional behavioral analysis, staff development) and social-emotional interventions to students who are identified through universal social-emotional screening.
 
The practitioner will be part of a clinical team that includes medical providers, nutritionists, social workers, case managers and other professionals. Using a bio-psycho-educational approach, we hope to provide whole-child health care through our school-based health center programs.

Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Assessing the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Using assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs via psychoeducational evaluations, consultation, individual services and program development.
  • Screening and evaluation of referred children including selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests, observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations.
  • Serving on both school and medical committees, acting as a liaison between school and Rural Health Group, and assisting with the creation of IEPs/504's, possibly in collaboration with both entities.
  • Assisting in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs needed to meet identified socio-emotional needs.
  • Delivering focused, skills-based individual and group interventions to students.
  • Providing consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
  • Providing and attending regular team meetings and staff trainings
  • Consulting with clinic team, schools, families and other community supports
  • Continuing professional development
  • Observation of federal, state, and local policies and regulations in the delivery of school psychological services
  • Serving on a number of multidisciplinary committees within Rural Health Group, the schools, and the community-at-large.

This position is open to North Carolina state licensed or license-eligible doctoral or specialist level psychologists.  Specialist applicants must be willing to secure state licensure pursuant to North Carolina Psychology Board requirements. LPA's are also encouraged to apply. Position will be based at a local charter school and will expand to other RHG locations as the program grows.

  • Must be a Licensed or License Eligible Doctoral level or Specialist Level School psychologist, or LPA
  • Minimum 2 years of experience and prior experience working within ethnically and culturally diverse individuals/families; experience with systems development strongly preferred (may be practica or internship experience)
  • Knowledge of Response-to-Intervention model of service delivery; strong preference for knowledge of social-emotional RtI.
  • Competence in psychoeducational evaluation selection, implementation, and interpretation, as well as report writing.
  • Knowledge of brief solution-focused interventions
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team, problem-solve, make decisions, organize tasks, and handle multiple priorities
  • Possess a pleasant, open attitude and a professional awareness of boundaries
  • Interpersonal skills that facilitate productive and respectful interactions with co-workers of varying job classifications and with children and families in a variety of settings
  • Whether inexperienced or seasoned, seek supervision and consultation with peers and supervisors
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel; able to efficiently learn to use electronic health record system
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
  • Good organizational skills
  • Valid NC Driver’s License, auto insurance, willing to accept travel assignments as needed.
  • Physical demands: Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, use computer keyboard and perform light lifting.  Ability to sit for long periods of time. Moderate physical activity such as walking, traveling, and driving.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
