Rural Health Group is seeking a full-time Dental Referral Specialist at our Jackson dental clinic.

Candidate will work a Monday thru Friday schedule. NO WEEKENDS

  ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the scheduling of STAT and urgent referrals, managing both routine and high-risk cases, along with necessary follow-up actions.
  • Secures prior authorization from insurance companies  
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patient health records as per relevant laws. Processes referrals by urgency and request date, directing patients to suitable specialists.
  • Accurately documents referrals in patient health records and discusses details with patients to ensure understanding.
  • Ensures providers document the rationale for referrals and complete necessary evaluations.
  • Compiles and submits comprehensive documentation, continuously monitoring all referrals.
  • Manages incoming calls and participates in quality improvement meetings.
  • Manages phone calls professionally, scheduling and triaging them to the front desk.
  • Schedules appointments and handles cancellations per guidelines, including prior approvals and provider note reviews.
  • Makes reminder calls for appointments, informing patients about co-payments and next visit requirements.
  • Interviews patients to record personal and payment details.
  • Triages urgent appointments, forwarding calls to the front desk.
  • Verifies coverage and explains office policies.
  • Documents no-shows and cancellations and assists with billing issues.
  • Completes and scans patient history, serving as a backup receptionist.
  • Follows prior authorization procedures, ensuring all information is complete and supporting documents are attached.
  • Manages communication with insurance companies.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and advises providers on authorization issues.
  • Stays informed about insurance criteria changes and takes on additional duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience in a dental office is preferred.

High school diploma or GED is required. Candidates should be adept at multitasking and functioning effectively in high-pressure environments, using common sense and good judgment when following instructions.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
  • Effectively responding to sensitive inquiries or complaints

  • Knowledge of modern office equipment, Microsoft Office software, and proficiency in learning the eClinicalWorks practice management system is necessary.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, type on a keyboard, and perform light lifting
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, with frequent hand use and manual dexterity
  • Strong preference for candidates with dental office experience
  • Must quickly learn to navigate the eClinicalWorks electronic health record system
  • Excellent organizational, telephone, and communication skills
  • Ability to lift between 25-50 pounds and move for extended periods
  • Embrace teamwork and promote a collaborative environment
  • 2+ years of related experience is required, with prior authorization experience highly desired
  • Understanding of medical terminology and insurance requirements for prior authorization is necessary
  • Candidates should possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, and customer service skills, along with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt as needed. Proficiency in data entry and basic skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is required.

    We foster a team-oriented atmosphere and encourage positive teamwork behaviors. Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required; applicants who may serve in a translating capacity will need to take a language assessment.
